There are three ways to activate:
- Apply a charge (ensure the charger voltage is slightly higher than the total battery voltage).
- Use the physical power button (included with most PB and B2A models).
- Use the “Activate” function in the JKBMS App if connected via a supported interface.
Selecting the right BMS is the most critical decision for your battery’s safety and performance. Follow this simple 3-step guide to find your perfect match.
Step 1: Identify Your Application
- For Electric Vehicles (Scooters/E-bikes): Choose the BD Series.
- Why: Compact, lightweight, and cost-effective. Ideal for 12V-72V systems where space is limited and high-speed balancing isn’t the primary concern.
- For Home Energy Storage (Solar/Off-grid): Choose the PB Series.
- Why: Built-in CAN/RS485 communication. It “talks” to your inverter (Deye, Victron, etc.) and supports paralleling multiple battery packs.
- For DIY Enthusiasts & Large Capacity Packs: Choose the B2A Series.
- Why: The gold standard for 280Ah+ cells. Its powerful 2.0A active balance keeps even the largest cells perfectly synced.
Step 2: Check Your Battery Voltage & Series
Make sure the BMS supports your specific “S” (Series) count:
- 12V Systems: Look for 4S compatible models.
- 24V Systems: Look for 8S compatible models.
- 48V Systems: Look for 16S compatible models.
- 72V-96V Systems: Look for 20S to 24S compatible models.
Note: Most JKBMS are adjustable (e.g., an 8S-24S model can work for any pack within that range).
Step 3: Match the Continuous Current
Calculate your maximum load to choose the right Amperage (A):
- Small Loads (<2000W): 40A – 60A is sufficient.
- Medium Loads (3000W – 5000W Inverters): 100A – 150A is recommended.
- Heavy Loads (>8000W or EV high torque): Go for 200A or 300A models to ensure the BMS runs cool.
Summary: Quick Comparison Table
| Feature | BD Series | B2A Series | PB Series |
| Primary Use | Light EV / DIY | High-End Storage | Solar/Inverter ESS |
| Balance Current | 0.4A – 0.6A | 2.0A (Massive) | 1.0A – 2.0A |
| Inverter Comm. | No (Bluetooth Only) | No (Bluetooth Only) | Yes (CAN/RS485) |
| Parallel Support | No | No | Yes (Up to 16 units) |
💡 Pro Tip from the Experts:
If you are using Grade A+ 280Ah/304Ah cells, we always recommend a 2.0A Active Balance model. Large cells have more surface area and capacity; a smaller 0.6A balancer may take days to correct a deviation, while a 2.0A balancer does it in hours.
Passive balancing dissipates excess energy from high-voltage cells as heat through resistors. JKBMS uses Active Balancing, which transfers energy from higher-voltage cells to lower-voltage cells. This process is more efficient, generates less heat, and significantly extends your battery’s lifespan
